About the seminar

The professional online seminar Interdisciplinary and General Issues of Obstetric and Gynecological Care during the War in Ukraine was held on 26–27 May 2022, starting at 15:00.

The event focused on the organisation of obstetric and gynecological care during wartime, patient routing, antenatal care, childbirth during hostilities, emergency medicine and psychological support for patients and healthcare professionals.

Organisers

The seminar was organised by the Odesa Branch of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine, official CPD provider No. 1118.

Co-organisers included Odesa National Medical University, the Psyche Association of Perinatal Psychologists, the Health Department of the Odesa Regional State Administration and the Health Department of Odesa City Council.

Programme topics

The programme addressed:

  1. wartime routing of obstetric and gynecological patients in Odesa and the Odesa region;
  2. antenatal care during hostilities;
  3. childbirth in wartime conditions;
  4. emergency care following combat-related and toxic exposures;
  5. the Vidrodzhennia medical and psychological support programme;
  6. psychological and psychosomatic wellbeing of pregnant women, postpartum patients and healthcare professionals;
  7. stress-related menstrual disorders and psychogenic amenorrhea;
  8. women’s health during menopause.

Format and certification

The seminar was delivered online over two days.

Presentations lasted 10–12 minutes, followed by 10–15 minutes for questions and discussion.

Participants could receive 10 CPD points after achieving at least 70% correct answers in the final assessment.

Registration closed at 14:00 on 26 May 2022.

Vidrodzhennia project

A dedicated programme block introduced the Vidrodzhennia project, a medical and psychological support programme for pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period during wartime.

The block covered the project’s early outcomes, the psychological state of pregnant and postpartum women, and the professional strain experienced by specialists providing care during the war.
