Program of medical and psychological support of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period in a crisis situation of hostilities

The socio-political state of any society determines the culture and quality of maternity care, and shapes the psychophysical health of the nation for generations to come.

Meeting psychophysiological needs and ensuring the safety and protection of every woman during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period is a natural necessity.

Today, basic safety and security needs are disrupted across Ukraine. Feelings of danger and despair lead to general disadaptation and can disrupt the psychophysiology of pregnancy and childbirth.

Providing medico-psychological support for pregnant women and new mothers, as well as psychological and professional support for medical staff, is a priority for obstetricians and perinatal psychologists during these difficult times.

Project goal

To develop and implement a Program of psychological assistance for pregnant / recently pregnant women, as well as medical staff of maternity hospitals during the crisis period of hostilities in Ukraine.

Project tasks

    Study the psychosomatic state of pregnant women in crisis conditions through online surveys.

    Study the psychosomatic state of maternity hospital staff through online surveys.

  • 3

    Conduct training seminars for maternity hospital staff on psychophysiological needs of pregnant women during wartime.

    Ensure provision of psychological and humanitarian targeted assistance to pregnant women and new mothers.

  • 5

    Develop and implement the Program of medico-psychological support in the practical work of maternity institutions.
